<p>Quite often we all get wrapped up in our fears and insecurities, so much so that we find ourselves wishing that we could be someone else. When we feel like this we start to believe that most people are better than us, this of course is not the case and the truth is that most people are more scared than we are.</p>
<p>Picture this; you are having a night out at the local bar, you see this quite attractive person sitting alone in a corner sipping a glass of wine. You think wow; this person appears to be so calm and full of confidence. However if you were able to read this persons mind, you would see a whole lot of negative thoughts. You might just be amazed to read in this persons thoughts, &#8220;is everyone talking about me, I wish people wouldn&#8217;t look at me, why wont people approach me and talk to me, I wish I looked as good as them.&#8221;</p>
<p>You see a young and vibrant business entrepreneur and think &#8220;Wow&#8230; what else could he want from life?&#8221; If only you realized that when he looks in a mirror he thinks &#8220;I **** my eyes, I wish my friends would talk to me, I hope mum and dad can sort out their differences&#8221;.</p>
<p>Isn&#8217;t it strange? When we look at other people we envy them and wish we could be them, at the same time they look at us and think the very same things. We compare ourselves to other people and become consumed with insecurities, and those other people are doing the same thing when looking at us. We all suffer from low self esteem; we lack self confidence and eventually we believe that self improvement is impossible to achieve.</p>
<p>You will always be the last person to realize that you have some bad habits, such as biting your nails, perhaps you have a foul mouth, and maybe you talk too much. Everyone around you will notice these bad habits, and unless a friend points this out you will continue to be very irritating.</p>
<p>A friend of mine has a bad habit of talking a lot, in fact that is an understatement. She never gets tired of talking. And it would appear that in most conversations, she is the only one interested in the things she has to say. Because of this our other friends always try to avoid any group she is in and she has not noticed how much she has become handicapped socially. This bad habit also begins to affect others in her social group.</p>
<p>A key to benefiting from self improvement is to discuss your problems and fears with a trusted friend. Talk to someone who you feel comfortable with, open up to this person, discuss all of your fears and anxieties. Do not be afraid to ask difficult questions, such as, &#8220;do you think I am bad mannered?&#8221;, &#8220;Do I always come across as being argumentative?&#8221;, &#8220;Do I talk too loudly?&#8221;, &#8220;Do I have bad breath?&#8221;, &#8220;Do you think I am a boring person?&#8221; Doing this, the person you are talking with will understand that you are willing to improve yourself. Be willing to accept comments and criticism, do not give answers like, &#8220;you&#8217;re exaggerating!&#8221; Open you&#8217;re heart to this person and you may find that you will also be helping you&#8217;re friend to improve him or her self.</p>
<p>A song by Whitney Houston says &#8220;Learning to love your self is the greatest love of all.&#8221; This is quite true. For you to love others you must first of all learn to love your self. Remember, if you do not have love in your heart then you cannot give love.</p>
<p>Before trying to instruct people on how to improve themselves, show them that you yourself have become successful and are now a much better person thanks to self improvement. Self improvement can and does make us better people, we can then go on to give inspiration to other people, and then we find that everyone else will follow.</p>
<p>Stop thinking of yourself as being a second rate person. Get rid of those negative thoughts, such as, &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I be rich&#8230; I wish I was slim&#8221; and so on. Accepting yourself for who you really are is the first step to self improvement. You must stop comparing yourself to other people; doing so will only give you even more reasons to envy them.</p>
<p>We all have insecurities to deal with. None of us are perfect. We always wish for better things, better looks, better bodies, etc. Life does not need to be perfect for you to be happy. Self improvement is a way to a better life, to being contented and learning to love yourself. You do not have to shout to the world that you are perfect. When you begin to improve yourself, you will start to feel happy and you will be filled with contentment.</p>

You can always find ways to motivate yourself to do something. You can think about the reward you&#8217;re going to get at the end of the day, whether it is money, personal satisfaction, or something you are willing to do for yourself.</p>
<p>Another unique self-improvement advice is to visualize. This may sound so simple to do, but it is definitely effective. Visualization is the process of making a mental image with the goal of rebooting the mind. Visualization is based on the knowledge that the mind has a powerful effect on the body.</p>
<p>Visualizing can help you actualize what you tell yourself: &#8220;I can do this!&#8221; The first step is to fully relax yourself by imagining all muscles beginning to contract from your forehead down to your shoulders until your toes. The next step is to imagine you are crossing something like a bridge, to indicate to yourself that you are crossing over to your subconscious. You may then imagine the desired outcome of reaching your goals. The final step is to imagine that you have already reached that desired outcome.</p>
<p>A similar self-improvement advice is to try hypnosis. A therapist can help you with this. During a normal mental state, many individuals will not be able to admit certain bad habits. When you subconsciously face what needs to be improved in your life, you will have gotten rid of those negative habits you were never even aware.</p>
<p>The final self-improvement advice is meditation. This is very linked to the previous techniques mentioned. When you are trying to improve yourself and caught up in a roller coaster ride at the same time, meditation can help you clear your mind. A clearer mind means you&#8217;ll be able to focus more on yourself and what you really want out of life.</p>

<p>Every person wants to improve his or her self-esteem. The main issue is that most people are unclear about how to go about improving it. In fact, it is easier for most people to damage their self-esteem than to build it. Unconsciously, we decrease the image of ourselves through negative thinking. Negative thoughts diminish or even destroy our own self-image.</p>
<p>Below are some ideas on how one can improve his or her self-esteem.</p>
<p>==>Make a list of all your accomplishments</p>
<p>One of the best ways to improve your self-esteem is to take inventory of all your accomplishments. Take time to add everything on your list &#8211; minor and large accomplishments. If you want to have fun, make sure you have of a list of 101 things that you&#8217;ve done. You will have the satisfaction of recognizing your abilities and strengths.</p>
<p>This list will provide you with ideas that focus on areas of your life that you want to improve. We strive to create balance in our lives &#8211; both in our accomplishments and areas that need improvement.</p>
<p>Areas of improvement are our challenges and challenges provide a structure for us to continue to grow. Growth adds excitement and expands our abilities and accomplishments.</p>
<p>Make an effort to improve on the weak areas</p>
<p>After making a list of all your accomplishments and after discovering areas of improvement in your life, then it&#8217;s time to start focusing on how you will tackle what you want to change. Resolutions are not only applicable during the start of the year. You can make a resolution any time of the year.</p>
<p>As everyone probably knows, most New Year&#8217;s resolutions are broken come March, sometimes even earlier. To stick to your resolutions, focus on one small task at a time. If you try to change many things at once you will set yourself up for failure. Start small and you will see that your life is changing.</p>
<p>==>Set clear goals</p>
<p>For you to reach a certain goal, you must first be able to formulate it clearly. If you want to lose weight for example, don&#8217;t just say that you want to have a flat stomach or a small waist. Say instead that you want to achieve a 28 inch waist or &#8216;I want to lose 10 pounds&#8217;.</p>
<p>The advantage of having clear and defined goals is that it is easier for you to track your progress and create the best strategies to reach the goal faster. If you have clear goals and start implementing them, what you want seems to fall in the right place. You will find that situations and people will help you in achieving your goal.</p>
<p>==>Remember that life is a journey</p>
<p>There is a saying that the journey is more important than the destination. The same is true with life. So enjoy wherever you are right now and believe that life only gets better.</p>

<p>After making a list of all your accomplishments and after discovering areas of improvement in your life, then it&#8217;s time to start focusing on how you will tackle what you want to change. Resolutions are not only applicable during the start of the year. You can make a resolution any time of the year.</p>
<p>As everyone probably knows, most New Year&#8217;s resolutions are broken come March, sometimes even earlier. To stick to your resolutions, focus on one small task at a time. If you try to change many things at once you will set yourself up for failure. Start small and you will see that your life is changing.</p>
<p>==>Set clear goals</p>
<p>For you to reach a certain goal, you must first be able to formulate it clearly. If you want to lose weight for example, don&#8217;t just say that you want to have a flat stomach or a small waist. Say instead that you want to achieve a 28 inch waist or &#8216;I want to lose 10 pounds&#8217;.</p>
<p>The advantage of having clear and defined goals is that it is easier for you to track your progress and create the best strategies to reach the goal faster. If you have clear goals and start implementing them, what you want seems to fall in the right place. You will find that situations and people will help you in achieving your goal.</p>
<p>==>Remember that life is a journey</p>
<p>There is a saying that the journey is more important than the destination. The same is true with life. So enjoy wherever you are right now and believe that life only gets better.</p>

<p>A lot of people look at life as being unfair at times and they think that life is a series of disappointments. Why are some people more “lucky” than others?</p>
<p>What about you? Does life seem unfair? Would you consider yourself as a happy person? Do you consider yourself a successful person? Do you consider yourself lucky? in Life? in Love?</p>
<p>Self improvement and self development are important, because they help to develop a new way of thinking, to give up the &#8220;life is unfair&#8221; attitude. Self improvement is a continuous process, a continuous work on ourselves.</p>
<p>Self improvement cannot come without your decision to do so. You should make your decision first.</p>
<p>There are numerous self improvement techniques to choose from. There are self improvement strategies used by the most successful people in the world. These techniques include affirmations, creative visualization, meditations and other.</p>
<p>There are a lot of options available such as self improvement books, CD’s, courses, seminars, trainings and workshops.</p>
<p>How to start? How to choose and apply self-improvement techniques?</p>
<p>You may want to start with little and simple self improvement steps such as positive affirmations to remove old negative thoughts and patterns and replace them with positive affirming beliefs. Add positive feelings and emotions to your affirmations for the best results</p>
<p>By using positive thinking and affirmations in your daily life, you can reprogram your mind, so you can achieve your goals.</p>
<p>Look at the people around you. If you find a trait of character, which you do not like, look at yourself closely and find out whether you have the same trait of character. Then use positive affirmations to achieve the change you want.</p>
<p>Everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.</p>
<p>Self improvement makes us better.</p>
