Well, it would certainly seem that way to you if you think it is low, or even worse completely missing. One of the big tests of how you rate your self esteem is the picture you carry round in your head – the one that tells you you’ve got poor self image. Those feelings can be so destructive that they need to be dealt with as soon as possible.

Poor self image can be brought about by very many factors. It could have been a product of your upbringing… looking back to my own childhood, I vividly remember my father’s complete lack of patience and being told constantly “you’re stupid” – yes, that’s the way to build my confidence – not!

Low self esteem can also be brought about by lack of self confidence due to circumstances you think are beyond your control, it may be loss of employment, being bullied in your workplace, or problems with relationships. There is certainly no doubting the fact that we are all individuals and think differently, so what may seem trivial to one person becomes the end of the world to another!

Making changes to your life when you are clearly unhappy is so important because your unhappiness not only affects you, it rubs off on everyone around you, it is self destructive and you need to fight to overcome it…

Anyway, fear not because, unlike depression which certainly requires medical intervention, there are many methods available now to deal with those feelings of helplessness and lots of ways to rebuild your confidence. Lots of people have already travelled down the same road that you are on now and with the right support they have learned to recognise the early onset of low self esteem and through experience have learned to cope in many different ways.

Learning how to cope with life’s ups and downs is no great secret, you are either born with the ability, or like a great many others, have to find yourself a way to start putting yourself back in good health – so why not take those first steps now…

If (and I suspect that through reading this page so far) you are not one of those lucky people with high self esteem and you are saying to yourself “I think I could do with a little help” then do not be afraid to take action because that first step will set in motion a chain of events that will start to make you feel better now!

A young lady approached me after a recent customer service seminar and expressed a need to improve her self-confidence. She believed her career prospects were limited by her personal insecurity. Furthermore, she asked if the Partnering Process would work for her. As those of you who are regular readers of this publication know, Partnering can help any two people become more successful at whatever they want to do. The good thing is that she is aware she needs to improve and has the desire to improve. So I, of course, told her to use the process and focus her plan on these keys to enhancing self-confidence.

Leave the past behind. Don’t get hung-up on past failures and disappointments. Often people rehash past failures and predict they will fail again. The question everyone needs to answer is: What would I do if I knew I couldn’t fail? A person cannot redo what they did yesterday, however, they can change what they will do tomorrow.

Remember the wins. As people progress towards their personal improvement goals, they need to look at the little successes and celebrate them. Obstacles will impede progress, as they are overcome, they will encourage greater confidence. It’s a good idea to keep a daily journal of accomplishments to visit when it feels like little progress has been achieved. It is experience, both good and bad, that builds confidence.

Gain knowledge. One of the best ways to bolster confidence is to equip oneself with knowledge. The more knowledge acquired… the stronger the self-confidence. Learn more about the profession you have chosen, more about your company’s
products and services, more about the people that surround you, more about your customers, and more about people in general.

Hang with the eagles. It’s probably easier to soar like an eagle when surrounded by nothing but turkeys. However, if a person spends time with people that are more confident than they are, it is quite likely they will improve their own self-confidence.
Like many folks, my scores on the golf course are better whenever I golf with players that are superior in skill. Maybe I concentrate more. Maybe I focus on my game more. Or maybe I just try harder.

Go for the low hanging fruit. When building self-confidence, look for opportunities to succeed. In the planning process, set attainable short-term goals to help boost confidence. It is important to steer away from uncertainty. For example: a person that wishes to enhance their presentation skills and overcome their fear of speaking might want to do some one-on-one presentations before trusted friends. The second step might be to join Toastmasters or enroll in a Dale Carnegie class. After developing their skills, then they may ask if they could do more presentations before customers or leadership teams.

Start each day off well. I will be the first to tell you this sounds a little ridiculous, but it works. Begin each day with positive affirmations about how confident you are becoming. And believe it! Literally look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that your self-confidence is improving. These positive declarations will reinforce the other actions you have taken to enhance your self-confidence.

The Earl of Chatham, William Pitt, in 1766 said that “confidence is a plant of slow growth.” Self-confidence cannot be attained easily or rapidly. It requires determination, a well thought-out plan, and a Partner to provide support, feedback, and encouragement. Share these six keys to enhancing self-confidence with others who may grow and improve through Partnering To Success.

When starting out the the area of self development and growth, one of the most important and basic skills to learn is the skill to deal with issues in your life.

Many sources often overlook the process of how to change. The process is long and hard, and often you will lose motivation and forget your goals for self improvement. While you may yearn for instant gratification and instant change, the reality is that it just wont happen overnight. Habits take a long time to form and break; deeper psychological issues that a long time to resolve.

Often when people deal with their issues, they’re dealing with it in a LOGICAL manner. This doesn’t motivate you because motivation is EMOTIONAL. When you feel emotionally affected towards the issue, you will have the drive to resolve the emotions. This is the basis for my model of dealing with issues.

Without further ado, here it is: Dealing with issues, the 4 steps.

1. Figure out what the issue is.

This first point is ridiculously obvious, but incredibly important and oftentimes looked over. In many instances, we believe that we’re dealing with one problem when in reality we’re actually facing problems with a deeper inner issue.

For example, in the world of dating and relationships, the actual act of meeting members of the opposite *** can be quite daunting. The possibility of rejection, the fear that they will dislike you is present. No one likes to think that they are incompetent with the opposite sex, and this is the issue that may arise and challenge them if they approach and get rejected. So they sit at the back of the bar with their friends talking about how they’re ‘pimps’ and ‘could pick up anyone in this bar’ but ‘they don’t want to’ because ‘no one here is worth it’.

What is happening here is an avoidance of the real issue: they depend on other’s approval and reactions to feel good about themselves. An issue of low self esteem and low self confidence.

This issue would not be realised without some serious hard thinking and the ability to see things for what they really are. Your mind and ego will throw up a million different cognitions to throw you off the real issue because the truth hurts your sense of self.

This first point is ridiculously simple yet hard to realize.

2. Experience the issue.

This is different. I swear by this technique 100%.

When you figure out what the issue is, it’s going to try and hide. It’s going to throw up excuses as to why you have those cognitions. You’re going to want to avoid the issue. Yeah that’s right, you know what I’m talking about. This is the nerd realising that they **** with women but rationalising it as due to their studies or the fact that they “don’t have time”, then using that as a constant excuse not to GO OUT and MEET women. Or the woman who has emotional issues that affect her relationships but blames her relationship problems on her looks.

By experience the issue I mean to feel it fully. You KNOW it’s there, you aren’t going to avoid it. You just broke up with your partner? It feels crap. Don’t avoid having the feelings. You’re scared of chatting up that cutie? Don’t avoid the issue. Immerse yourself in the experience of feeling like that.

Only then do you have a solid base for your motivation to get the problem fixed.

3. Act on resolving the issue

After experiencing the feelings that you don’t want to feel, make a decision to ACT upon the issues. After all, just pointlessly making yourself feel bad is… pointless. So what did you do? Make a commitment to take steps forward in solve the issue. If you’re afraid that people will ‘reject’ you then approach people until you emotionally realise that ‘rejection’ by a stranger means nothing more than the fact that you approached them in the wrong way. If you’re avoiding exercise because of an underlying issue of laziness, get out there and exercise! Do you actually WANT to be unhealthy? How does being unhealthy feel?

Experiencing the issue should give you the MOTIVATION to ACT on the issue. If you don’t act, you’ll just stay the same. Do you really want to feel the way you felt when you were experiencing the issue? I doubt it.

4. Figure out your other issues

In self improvement, it is critical to remember that your problems will NEVER end and you will ALWAYS have issues to deal with. Reality is harsh.

If you’re serious about improving yourself, keeping this in mind will help you a lot. You will always have something to fix. Take a break once in a while, moderate how much you work on yourself, but never forget that you always have something to improve. Read “The way of the superior man” by David Deida. It gives a good description of this point.

Did I hear some groans, as you read the title? Bravo to you that you decided to peruse it in spite of the perception it is more than you want to hear. Many people think that one ‘magical’ day they will arrive at the place called, ‘I know all there is to know,’ and they can rest on their laurels.
Everything that happens to us happens for a reason purpose. And in some cases, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over yesterday pain, embarrassment and failures, treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success- achievement motivation.

So, when does personal improvement become synonymous with success? Where do we start? Consider the following steps.

1) Stop thinking and feeling as if you are a miserable, that you are cursed, because you are not. You have to consider your self valuable. You have to accept your self so that others will accept you also.

2) When you see hunks or **** models on television, think more on self improvement, not self pitying. Self acceptance is not just about having nice slender legs, or great abs- great body. You have to feel the thing called inner beauty.

3) When people feel so down and low about themselves, help them cope with that feeling. Do not go down with them because this can make both of you weak. They will pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling miserable.

4) The world is a huge ground for learning and not mistakes. Do not feel stupid and doomed forever just because you got failing grade on a science quiz. There is always a room for personal improvement.

5) Take things one at a time. You do not expect black sheep’s to be goody-two-shoes in just a snap of a finger. Personality improvement is a one day at a time process.

6) Personal improvement results to inner stability, personality development and dig this you will see success. It comes from self appreciation, self confidence, and self esteem.

7) Dream meaningful and achievable goals. Self improvement does not turn you to be the exact replica of Cameron Diaz or Ralph Fiennes. It hopes and aims to result to an improved and better you as an individual..

When you are enthusiastic to realize and accept changes on your life and go through the process of self improvement, it does not mean that everybody else is. The world is a place where people of various values and attitude hang out. Sometimes, even if you think you and your best friend always like to do the same thing together at the same time, she would most likely decline an invitation for personality enhancement.

We should always remember that there is no such thing as ‘over night success’. It is always a wonderful feeling to hold on to the things that you already have now, realizing that those are just one of the things you once dreamed for.

There are plenty of ways to define what self improvement means and there are thousands of perceptions about self improvement. For some, it may be a way to get rise in payments and for others, it may be a way to get the popularity among the friends and society. However, self improvement is a set of logical steps to improve you in any domain of life. Self improvement differs for everyone as their perspective and goals are different. Self-improvement is nothing but to know ourselves better and discover the inner and positive talents.

Power of Self Improvement

Many of us come across the problems that stop us to pass through the developmental stages of our life. Self-improvement helps us in clearing those difficult developmental stages of our life. It also results in giving positive changes to keep you happy throughout the life. Maintaining and following the essential steps of self-improvement will help you to achieve the success in your personal as well as professional life. Walking on the path of self-improvement also helps us to motivate for carrying out the impossible milestones in our life. As there are innumerable opportunities so are the competitions. It helps us to grab those opportunities and be at the top among the crowd. Self-improvement gives enough confidence to achieve almost anything in life and change the ‘impossible’ to ‘possible’. Self-improvement empowers us to achieve our goals, ambitions and dreams.

Self Help

Self-help is an important tool to discover the ways and tricks to tackle certain problems on its own. It is an ability of a person to think and rethink until he gets the right solution for some specific problem. Our mind constantly keep working on how to develop ourselves and find the most effective way of getting the top position in specific field. Self-help is a method of inventing the most effective ways of solving the issues and concerns that arise in the mind. Sometimes, it also deals with finding and improving changes within people around us to make our environment healthy and comfortable. In this way, it not only helps them to move forward in their lives but also helps in being in a positive environment all the time.

Ways for Self Help

The most important thing to start with self-help is to understand the milestones that you want to achieve in life. Knowing the achievements would help the mind to start with the thinking process to produce an effective result. Motivation is an essential part of the self-help programm. Motivation alone can take you to the top. Try to increase your self-confidence by exploring yourself in the lax areas. Building the self-confidence will help you to eliminate the causes of your happiness and success. Concentrate more on your goals and keep trying until you achieve those milestones. That would not only improve your overall performance, but would also keep away from the stress and anxiety. Self-help and self-improvements are definitely the key features for a happy life.
